Ok I am going to start this topic so we can discuss all things related to our routine in front of a live audience. To start I am posting a duel that was done by a friend and his buddy at a convention. Check it out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTkLbN-G ... r_embedded

I think they did an awesome job at reproducing the duel from the movie even without all the special effects.

Yeah I think it would be a bit much to try and fit in before Comicpalooza. :D This kind of a show is something to work towards. There are other youtubes like this one that feature a live lightsaber show. Not all of them are worth watching. If you guys like this kind of thing I can post links to the best ones. What do you all think?

I would love to try to work on this as the 2nd duel we do... and have it perfected to do by this fall and perform it at cons next year, starting with ConJour in Jan 2011 (if not before)

Then we would have two different duels in our bag of tricks!

After encouragement to work on our own ideas, Courtney and I are working on our own routine in addition to practicing the standard one. :) We've got a minute's worth so far of Jedi (her) vs. Sith (me), and hope to show y'all at practice tomorrow and get your thoughts on it.

Sounds great! That's the initiative we are looking for. As a group we will be able to come up with much better routines than just one person developing all the choreography. Not everyone will like everything in the routine but it will appeal to a much wider audience if we put all our ideas together and keep practicing.

Can't wait to see it.

I have talked about this before but I wanted to post this link for everyone to see for themselves. I know that we are not going to get anything like this anytime soon but it is a goal to work towards. This is the system that, when connected to a computer, will see what the saber is doing and play the sound files accordingly. It will also play music files to add ambiance to the duel. It can handle up to 16 sabers! (all sabers would have to have a CF board and transmitter. In any case, it is supper cool and perfect for stage duels.

That's freakin' COOL!!! I hope we get to that point someday where we incorporate that kind of effect into our stage show, 'cause it'll be sure to blow away the crowd!!
